Launched in early 2018, Midnight 00 is the brainchild of Ada Kokosar, the New York based Milanese fashion editor and creative director whose client list reads like a who’s who of the biggest names in fashion. Originally created as a collaboration with Italian shoe label Paciotti, Midnight 00’s shoes are bold and romantic, fusing classic after-dark sparkle with modern detailing. The unique collection is inspired by the timeless tale of Cinderella’s glass slipper and the opulence of Marie Antoinette, featuring statement styles in bright hues adorned with PVC, pleated silks and crystal embroidery. Although not formally trained, Ada works instinctively and spontaneously, playing with non-traditional materials. Not only do they add an irreverent touch to the everyday, but are functional: many of the shoes are covered in a transparent plastic coating which renders them, in the words of Ada herself, “waterproof, dirt-proof and, what I like to say, party-proof. It’s like a piece of art that you want to protect with a frame.” Midnight 00 is the real-life embodiment of a world of dreams and fantasies.
